February 4th Meeting Announcement

Winter must have overheard us talking about it at our January meeting and mistakenly taken it for an invitation to visit!
This is the longest stretch of sub-freezing temperatures in our area in over 30 years. We’re feeling a bit of pandemic isolation deja-vu from being indoors and grateful for Zoom so we can hold our meeting next week.

There’s always room for more music in our lives! At our February meeting, we’re going to learn about how rhythm and music can support gait and balance for people with Parkinson’s.

Meeting date and time:  Wednesday February 4th from 1:00 – 2:30 pm via ZOOM

We have a guest speaker for the first half of the meeting starting promptly at 1:00. He will give us a brief overview of the MOVIVE device followed by a question and answer period. We will have an open discussion of whatever is on your mind after our guest speaker leaves. Below is the intro he sent about him and his talk:

Steve McCormack, PT, DPT is a licensed physical therapist and Clinical Territory Manager with MedRhythms. He works closely with people living with Parkinson’s disease, care partners, and clinicians to support mobility and walking at home. Steve will be introducing MOVIVE, a prescription-based, at-home therapy that uses music and rhythm to support gait, balance, and confidence with walking. MOVIVE is designed to complement traditional care by delivering evidence-based rhythmic auditory stimulation in a structured, easy-to-use program patients can follow safely in their own environment. More information at  movive.com

ZOOM link will be emailed the day before the meeting. Please plan to sign on from a quiet area of your home to preserve the group’s confidentiality. You may sign on 10-15 minutes early if you wish. We welcome you to join us even if you are running late. We get it if you are having a slower day!

We ask that everyone keep their camera on during the meeting so we can see each other, like we would if we were in the same room together.

ZOOM sign-on problems:  If you experience any sign-on problems, let us know what they were so we can check with tech support (AKA tech-savvy husband) for input. Be sure you have the latest version/update of ZOOM installed before signing on to our meeting.

Stay safe and warm during this cold snap.

We look forward to seeing everyone next week!
