Our next meeting on April 3 will be an in-person meeting in Reston and dedicated to Just-Us Share Time. Let’s talk about those self-conscious and embarrassing moments that come with Parkinson’s. We’ve all experienced them. How have you handled them? With humor? With resignation? With that fright, flight, freeze feeling of panic? With grace and dignity? Do you wish you’d handled something differently than you did? Let’s share our awkward, uncomfortable stories in the spirit of support, strength, and garnering wisdom.
- DATE: Wednesday April 3
- TIME: 1:00 PM – 2:30 PM
- PLACE: Reston
- TOPIC: Just-Us Share Time
For everyone’s safety, we ask that you not attend the meeting if you are feeling ill or have been exposed to anyone who is ill. By agreement with our sponsoring organization, we do not publicly post our meeting place.
UPCOMING MEETINGS: Our May 1 meeting will be via Zoom. Amelia Faraco-Hadlock, Deputy Legislative Director to Congresswoman Jennifer Wexton, will speak to us from 1:00-1:30 pm about the National Plan to End Parkinson’s, which passed the House of Representatives on December 14, 2023. This is a non-partisan bill spearheaded with other members of Congress by Congresswoman Wexton, who is personally invested. Originally diagnosed with Parkinson’s, her diagnosis was changed to the faster progressing PSP. Additional information about the National Plan to End Parkinson’s and its passage by the House: Press release from Congresswoman Wexton’s office and a history and timeline at The Michael J. Fox Foundation.
- Our May 1 speaker will be followed by Just-Us Share Time from 1:30 to 2:30 p.m.
- We want your input!
- What are you looking for in our support group?
- A time to share your meeting speaker ideas and other experiences and suggestions.
- Feel free to email your ideas to us ahead of the meeting. It will give us time to look into them.
Mark Your Calendars! On June 5th we are going out to lunch! This will be our last meeting until September: we do not meet during the summer months of July and August.
An important reminder: Anything talked about or suggested during our meetings is based on personal experience and should not be considered medical advice in any way, shape, or form. No one should make any changes to their individual medical treatment plan without the full knowledge and approval of their medical providers.
