May has sort of whizzed by and I suddenly realized that next Wednesday is the 1st of June and our meeting date. That’s a long intro apology for the late notice of the meeting. This will be our last meeting before we break for summer and resume again on Wednesday, September 7.
Hope everyone is staying safe and healthy. Due to the continued uncertainty concerning boosters and variants, and taking into consideration the various and differing circumstances of our members, we will not be meeting for our traditional June lunch this year. We will, however, get together via Zoom.
- Date: Wednesday, June 1
- Time: 1:00-3:00 pm via Zoom
- Topic: Group Sharing
We plan to spend the first half of our meeting sharing something about ourselves. Below are some ideas. Pick whichever appeals to you or you can choose to talk about something else. We are here to learn from and support each other.
This past year has brought many changes to our lives. Some have been good and exciting, while others have been difficult and filled with stress, anxiety, or sadness. What have you learned this past year that you would like to share with the group?
Our last month’s speakers, Angela and Karl Robb, talked about the importance of finding balance in our lives. What does your individual wellness recipe looks like? How do you fill your body, mind, spiritual, and emotional buckets? See the summary post for ideas.
Summer is almost here and our group meeting facilitator, for one, feels helplessly not ready. Being a teacher, she has always loved summer. It was the one time of the year she could get things done, read several books, get together with family for more than just a weekend holiday, take a vacation, complete or start projects . . . the list goes on. How do you feel moving into summer? Have you made any summer plans or set any goals?
We thought it would be a good idea to devote the second half of the meeting talking about our group. The two of us love this group and want to do all we can to keep it running while best meeting the needs of all of us Women With Parkinson’s. Yet times are and keep on changing, mostly due to the uncertainty of Covid. We have many more resources literally at our fingertips. We can go online and find video presentations by specialists in all walks of Parkinson’s. Movement disorder centers all over the world offer online programs and information.
Discussion items: What in our support group has worked for you in the past? How do you see our support group moving forward? Do we continue to have guest speakers? What works for you and why with Zoom meetings? What works for you and why with in-person meetings? What should remain the same? What should we change?
Zoom link will be sent out the day before the meeting. Please plan to log on from a private area of your home to preserve the group’s confidentiality. We also request that everyone attending keep their video on throughout the meeting as a courtesy to all members and to foster a sense of community. If you don’t get the email with the link, please contact me the day before and no later than the morning of the meeting.
